(UK, 1126463) Biddulph CAB has been serving the former mining community of Biddulph for over 25 years. Our dedicated and highly trained team of staff and volunteers provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. We aim to provide the advice people need for the problems they face in areas like debt, benefits, employment, housing and consumer; last year we helped more than 1,300 people with over 5,500 different problems, with many receiving specialist advice in debt and welfare rights. Equally important is our aim to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives by collecting evidence and campaigning for change. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. The contribution made by our volunteers aged between 19 and 79 is vital; coming from all walks of life and bringing a wide range of experience plus enthusiasm and energy, they underpin all that we do. We know that the lives of many of our clients are changed for the better by the help and support received from the volunteers. What is less well known is that volunteering at CAB can be a life changing experience too, a fact with which many of our volunteers will agree.

Our advice, information and support can enable visually impaired people to have the quality of life which many sighted people take for granted. We also promote greater public awareness of sight loss and work towards achieving better and more accessible public services for visually impaired people. We rely on our own fundraising effort for much of what we do. We have two charity shops, and also seek sponsorship from individuals and businesses. We urgently need volunteers to help in our work.

YTD Raised: £0.00Inside Out - Wormwood Scrubs Community Chaplaincy Helping prisoners to return to a positive role in society Inside Out works towards building relationships with prisoners to support their successful return to the community. It is an interfaith based organization that complements and works alongside the voluntary and statutory agencies involved in resettlement within and outside the prison. The charity has no external financial support; the vast majority of the work is carried out by volunteers. In June this year, three amateur cyclists (Patrick Foster, Mike Preston and Henning Goranson-Sandberg) will attempt to cycle up Mount Ventoux not once, but three times within 24 hours. This iconic mountain is the ultimate test for cyclists in the Tour de France. Our 3 cyclists have put in many miles of training for the last 6 months in order to raise the money the charity needs to contine its work. The aim is to raise as much as possible towards the £60,000 needed to run the charity each year. Many thanks for your donation

Our volunteers, who know about being a parent, support other parents by visiting them in their own homes for a couple of hours each week. We believe parents have the key role in creating a secure childhood for their children. Its just sometimes they need a bit of help.
