(UK, 1165419) Browse eventsThe Work Rights Centre is a charity dedicated to tackling in-work poverty by helping workers exit poorly paid, unprotected, and insecure employment. It offers free accessible and confidential support in English, Romanian and Italians to migrants who are at risk of exploitation by employers, who do not know how to access their rights, who do not understand what is needed for lawful employment, or need support to get back into the labour market after a break. Not being able to overcome these challenges leaves many migrants with limited income, in poor health, and vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and even homelessness. Beneficiaries from this organisation's services cannot afford to pay a lawyer. Money raised from donations will go exclusively to cover the cost of direct assistance to migrants - the pay for the adviser, training of volunteers, and the reimbursement for volunteers' travel expenses and lunch. Volunteer recruitment and retention is essential for this work, as the organisation wants to cover the needs of other EU migrants in precarious work in the UK, such as Italians or Polish.
