(UK, 327691) IPSEA is a national charity offering free legally based advice/support to benefit children with SEN/disability. One in five children in the UK have some kind of SEN / disability. Many just need the right support, tailored to meet their needs. This might be help in the classroom or extra equipment. Given this support, most do well at school. They gain qualifications and later, employment. But if these children’s needs are not met, the implications are bleak. At 16, children with SEN / disability are twice as likely not to be in any form of education, employment or training as their peers. As adults they are far more likely to be unemployed, live in poverty and to end up in custody. Their educational success and life chances are undeniably linked. The SEN system is complex. Most parents need help with the paperwork that securing their child’s support entails. Demand for our expertise exceeds our resources. Our help lines receive 100 calls a day that we cannot answer. We need your help to train more volunteers!
