The Sikh Association Manchester is a registered charity that aims to foster the improvement in community cohesion, economic, social, health and emotional well being in Manchester and Greater Manchester through educational activities within the framework of the teachings of the Sikh Gurus and the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Sikh Association actively participates in the Vaisakhi Celebrations in the city which include a Nagar Kirtan and a family sports day for the sikh community of Manchester. We hold weekly prayer meetings on Saturdays, celebrate Sikh Festivals and welcome educational visits from school and other institutions on week days. The Association manages the Central Gurdwara and is currently involved in projects to develop the facilities at the Gurdwara so that they can best meet the needs of the congregation. The gurdwara is now looking to improve access for the disabled and elderly. We are currently fund raising for acquiring and installing a lift to provide access to the Darbar Sahib for these members of our community. There is also work in progress to improve the Kitchen and heating system at the gurdwara at the present time.
The vision of the International HIV/AIDS Alliance is a world in which people do not die of AIDS. The Alliance supports community based organisations to respond effectively to prevent the spread of HIV and enable fair access to treatment for those who desperately need it.
