Future For Jaffna (UK, 1150107) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Future for Jaffna works to improve the lives of widows of the recent civil war in northern Sri Lanka. We empower the widows to set up their own small businesses from making clothes to weaving Palmyra bags. We help improve the widows lives in a sustainable manner. Once they have their own successful small businesses, they will have a source of income for the future, enabling them to provide for their family. They will them be able to buy better food and clothes for their children. We make sustainable improvements to the lives of our widows in Jaffna.     It costs roughly £55 to set up a business for a widow. However much or little you can give, it will make a big difference to the lives of those in Jaffna. For more information, please visit our website: http://www.futureforjaffna.co.uk/

Development Impact For Nigeria (UK, 1091028) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

DIFN (Development Impact for Nigeria) was set up in 2000 in the UK, initially starting off as CIFN, an ecumenical agency to address the issues of HIV/AIDS awareness, Prevention and Care/Support. We have now evolved into being a holistic development agency working in partnership with several Nigerian based Community Based Organisations, NGOs, Schools, Faith Groups, State and Local Government Agencies. In 2010, an initiative was proposed by members of the Modakeke Progressive Union (a Diaspora organization in the UK) to provide solar power products for the benefit of the inhabitants of Modakeke, Osun State, Nigeria. This area has suffered several years of civil war and its people are slowly re-building their lives. This initiative aims to facilitate regeneration of the area by reducing poverty and illiteracy of locals by: 1. Providing beneficiaries with solar lanterns and small-scale photovoltaic systems to reduce their reliance on kerosene and diesel - which are toxic and can be very dangerous if kerosene is mixed with other liquids 2. Improve educational standards because children will be able to study at night 3. Encourage the use of solar power to generate an income e.g. for charging mobile phones or using money which would otherwise be spent on diesel and kerosene, on other items to sustain their families 4. Engaging locals in volunteering schemes to educate others about energy conservation and about solar energy devices in rural areas in Nigeria, particularly in Osun State

YTD Raised: £0.00

Respite Kids provides short respite breaks and parties linked to the chagim (festivals) to Jewish special needs children in London. We want to help the families caring for special needs children, the parents who put so much effort and love into caring for their child, to take a break for a short period while we provide their child with a fun time with entertainment, food and care in a safe and secure environment. We need donations to help us run our activities. All Respite Kids workers are unpaid volunteers, and all funds raised will be used for running respite activities with registered carers and charities. We pride ourselves on the care we give to the children, our innovation in developing and running events, our speed to respond and most of all, the joy we bring to these very special children and families. Chukwu Trust (UK, SC035651) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Chukwu Trust is founded on the principle that when people have nothing, even the smallest donation can transform lives. It aims to give people in Africa the basics to start a new education, a new job, a new life and build a future for themselves and their families. We do not aim to fund people on an ongoing basis, but instead to provide the crucial capital that will enable them to support themselves. This is done through direct donations to individuals, so not only is the gift completely transparent but the results can be seen immediately. Many of the people who require assistance have had their lives brutally transformed by tragic events, most commonly the loss of the breadwinner in the family through accidents or sickness. Countries, such as Nigeria where we work, do not have a welfare state. The only form of assistance is provided by the family network. When this breaks down, those left behind have nothing to fall back on, bringing severe suffering to the families involved.
