The Friends support an integrated School and Centre for disabled and able-bodied children on the edge of a slum in the town of Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh, South India. It celebrated its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2010, having been set up by a local man, Mohan Rao, to try to help handicapped children in his neighbourhood. Beginning by taking a few children into the family home for physiotherapy and education, there is now a purpose-built school for over 350 children, a third of whom are handicapped. There is a hostel where 60 handicapped children, coming from distant rural communities, live during term-time. Physiotherapists and specialised teachers for children with hearing problems and learrning difficulties join graduate teachers in proving rehabilitation and education. The Centre is supported entirely by voluntary donations. All money raised by the Friends goes directly to the Centre in Narasaraopet- none is deducted for fund raising and administration. We are happy to supply further details including how to sponsor a child at the Centre
St Helen's at Overton is one of the oldest churches in Lancashire and receives no public funding. Will you help the community to maintain it for future generations? We are not fundraising for the church activities but solely for the upkeep of the building. Thank you.
Australian Marriage Equality is calling for donations to help us publish advertisements urging the Tasmanian Upper House to support marriage equality. Tasmania is poised to become the first place in Australia to allow same-sex couples to marry. Our print ads send a strong message to decision-makers that marriage equality is about strengthening families. The ads feature real Tasmanian families. Same-sex couples and our families cannot thank you enough for your contribution. Australian Marriage Equality (AME) is a national organisation working for equal marriage rights for all Australians regardless of their gender or sexuality. Australian Marriage Equality has run many successful campaigns that have lead to marriage equality being endorsed by the Tasmanian government, the ACT Government, the Federal Labor Party and a majority of Australians.
We provide loving care to people with life-threatening illnesses, support to their families and service to the community in a spirit of enriching lives.
