We work specifically with the Piam Brown Ward in Southampton, which looks after children across the South Coast, having been diagnosed with cancer. We offer families, including bereaved families, financial support, practical help and the chance to have some fun filled memory making trips. As a family that has passed through through this ward, we are acutely aware of how traumatic it can be for both the child and their family. Everyone's lives are completely taken over by the diagnosis and their worlds are thrown into chaos as they sit and helplessly watch their child goes through the rigours of treatment. Your world becomes a series of hospital stays, appointments, awful treatments and general misery. Families are seperated, jobs have to be given up, the pressure becomes enormous. At Abby's Heroes, we aim to provide a family with support, be that financial or practical, personalised to each families requirements. Help with bills, buying equipment, or treating the family to a break, a chance to have some precious family time, are all covered by Abby's Heroes. Our daughter Abby died 29th May 2016, having been a patient on the ward since May 2013. She was a bright, sparkly, generous soul, much loved by her family and all those who were lucky enough to have met her. To continue our daughters memory, in her spirit, be a hero, make a difference and do something for someone else. No matter how small, or large, any donation is welcomed with love and appreciation.
