The Breathworks Foundation was established to ensure the benefits of mindfulness and compassion training are available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. It brings to life the vision of Vidyamala Burch, Breathworks co-founder and author, who passionately believes no person or community should be excluded from Breathworks programmes simply through financial constraint. Vidyamala has lived with severe pain and disability all her adult life and is keenly aware it is very often people like herself who are most in need of mindfulness training but are the least able to pay for and access it. The Breathworks Foundation desire and Trustees commitment to reach people who are suffering is what drives our work through awarding bursaries for mindfulness courses and teacher training, research and partnerships, enabling individuals to take their rightful place in humanity. In 2018 The Foundation awarded 57 bursaries, enabling 29 people to learn mindfulness and 28 people to learn to teach. As well as recently supporting over 130 people through partnerships with both St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford and Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre in Liverpool. Please help us to expand this great work and share the gift of mindfulness and compassion with many more people in 2019.
