Every day, Melbourne City Mission works with some of Melbourne and Victoria’s most vulnerable individuals, families and communities. Every week, we help thousands of people escape and avoid disadvantage, economic exclusion and social isolation. Established in 1854, we are Melbourne’s oldest charity and today offer over 80 different programs that address the needs of the most marginalised people in the community. From children living with a disability, or young people with nowhere to call home, to people who need assistance into education or employment, we are there, working alongside them, so they can build a better future for themselves. We help people find their own path to independence, providing them with the support they need along the way.

ABF The Soldiers' Charity are for soldiers, for life; giving support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. They risk so much for us, but for them, it's "just doing their job". In return, The Soldiers’ Charity give them down-to-earth help and friendship, with no hassle or bureaucracy. We help in ways that make a big practical difference to individuals. For example a level access shower for an amputee from a current conflict or care home fees for an elderly veteran. That's what we've been here to offer for the past 66 years and will be here for as long as there is a need. http://www.soldierscharity.org

Make-A-Wish Foundation UK grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then we have granted over 8,600 magical wishes to children and young people aged between three and seventeen years old. There are over 20,000 children in the UK living with a life-threatening conditions and we believe that every one of them deserves to experience the magic of a Make-A-Wish wish. Anyone can refer a child to us. This year alone, around 1,400 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. Our wishes are truly magical. A small and dedicated team of professional wishgranters works alongside hundreds of volunteers to turn our children’s wishes into reality. Whether a wish is to be a princess or a train driver for the day, own the latest TV or computer equipment, meet a favourite celebrity or just enjoy some special time away from home with their family, a wish come true brings so much to a child’s life and provides memories that last a lifetime for the whole family. Make-A-Wish needs to raise over £7 million in 2013 in order to continue granting these magical wishes. We receive no government funding or lottery grants, relying on the generous donations of the public - and that’s why, for our charity, every donation really counts.
