Larchfield Charity Organisation (UK, 8915453) Browse events

YTD Raised: £3,231.77

In 2012, Larchfield Charity Organisation was established by James Berry working together with a philanthropic Tanzanian group as a Tanzanian charitable entity. Larchfield’s objective is to serve the desperate plight of the increasing numbers of Tanzanian orphans and children who have been abandoned by their parents and other family members through disease, or other incapacity to maintain the family unit. At present, there are only limited facilities in place in Tanzania to care for and educate these children in a suitable environment. A few children – if they are fortunate enough to be taken in by a foster family – only enjoy a second class status which involves being subordinate to and working for their host family. Other children, who are unable to find a foster family, are effectively abandoned, have to fend for themselves, and too often become victims of abuse. In Mkuranga district, one hour south of Dar-es-Salaam, there are numerous children in this position. The community and local government presently lack the resources to remedy the situation. To serve the needs of this district, it was decided to register a children’s home and school called ‘Larchfield’, to serve as a happy, safe and secure environment for Tanzanian children in need. The objective is to build and operate a purpose-built children’s home and school for children aged 3-16 years.

Bright Futures UK supports young people who are forced to take time out from education due to medical circumstances. Bright Futures UK supports young individuals through a period of illness by providing educational, social and professional support. We help young people bridge the gap to minimalize the effects caused by taking time out of education. Every young person has dreams, why should illness stand in their way? At Bright Futures UK, we understand from first-hand experience the pressure young people experience when faced with illness. We aim to minimize the disruption caused and help our young individuals build their skills, as well as their confidence. This is so that the transition back to normality is as smooth as possible, with the least amount of disruption to educational and social life. In 2017, we will be launching our first workshops and mentoring programs! Our mentoring programmes are tailor made to fit the needs of both mentors and mentees, whilst our workshops will be split into two categories; ‘alternative’ and ‘skill based’.We will also be offering tutoring services for young individuals continuing with their studies, as well as counselling services for those who need that extra support. As we expand, so will what we offer.Bright Futures UK is ready, are you?! YTD Raised: £3,228.08

TreeSisters is a global woman’s campaign to help reforest the tropics within 10 years. We are an eco-crowd-funding campaign powered by the generosity, creativity, originality and shared responsibility of women who want to offer their gifts and abilitues towards the cause. We are actively serving the creation of a sustainable world for our children and providing a network of mutual support for all women wishing to face up to climate change. TreeSisters is where feminine empowerment and ecological restoration come together as one unified mission. Our plan is to help make it normal for everyone to give money for trees every month, to help reforest the tropics - and, it is so much more. This is as much about the empowerment of women as it is about reforestation.   TreeSisters is an invitation to pitch your energies towards the creation of a world that values both women and nature as a new norm.   Our two primary areas of work are:  1. to engage and empower diverse women to join,      spread and amplify the movement with their own creativity,  experience and courage 2. to co-create a meta-reforestation strategy with  existing tree organisations to lay out a plan for how to help  reforest the tropics within 10 years We are right at the beginning. Our campaign updates, will tell you where we are with it all! There are so many ways to get involved right now Please join us in spreading the word and bringing this initiative to life. Thank you.
