Muscular Dystrophy NSW exists to improve the quality of life for people with neuromuscular disorders and their families and carers. We do this through information, support, and direct services. For over 75 years we have been building on the passion and commitment of our founders for improved outcomes for people with neuromuscular disorders. We have also more recently begun building partnerships with other disability service providers to enable us to meet the needs of a broader target group through our partners. People with neuromuscular disorders and their families face unique challenges and have unique support needs due to the progressive nature of their condition and, in many cases, the certainty of their premature death. The frequent need for ventilators and vulnerability of clients to respiratory conditions also creates challenges for mainstream services.
