This is set in a tribal area, and provides for the poorest in the community as well as for patients travelling long distances to access treatment at Padhar Hospital. Treatment available to patients covers a wide range of medical and surgical conditions ranging from cataracts to joint replacements and cancer. The latest challenge for the hospital staff is the separation of siamese twins, joined at the chest and abdomen. During the year 2011a new Nursing College, affiliated to Bhopal University, was opened and the first students graduated with a 'capping off' ceremony was held in November 2012.
(UK, XT1054) Browse eventsThe Kosova Support Group are a humanitarian organisation with charitable status who aim to help people at their point of need by focusing on health and wellbeing, food provision , social activities and practical projects. Established in 2007 the group have taken volunteers of all ages and denominations to Kosova to support and work alongside local organisations such as SOS Kinderdorf’s Family Strenghtening Programme in Pristina who work with The Roma and Serbian communities as well as Kosovar Albanians. The group provide food and medication on a monthly basis to fifteen families identified to them by Kinderdorf and Social Services. The Kosova Support Group also work with the Women’s Wellness Centre in Peja a town in the west of Kosova who support victims of domestic violence. The Main Family Medicine Centre in Kaqanik, a small town in the south west of Kosova is where the majority of practical work is carried out. Teams of volunteers working alongside local craftsmen are helping to renovate the building which is in a very poor state of repair. The Kosova Support Group have also delivered five emergency ambulances to two hospitals and two emergency centres in Kosova. Plans for 2012 The renovation of the laboratory in the Main Family Medicine Centre to make it fit for purpose. The provision of training in Stoma care and Diabetes by specialised medical staff from N Ireland. To take a group of trained football coaches to the Kaqanik area to run a football summer scheme. To take a group of volunteers to Kosova in July 2012 to run social activities with women’s groups and children.

The Deb Bailey Foundation Inc was named in memory of Deb Bailey, a successful and energetic Sydney journalist who died aged 48 suffering from MND.
