(UK, SCO11513) Shetland Health Board Endowment Fund is seeking the advancement of health in Shetland through supplementing or providing additional services to those of the NHS to the local population. Shetland Health Board Endowment Fund was established in 1978 by virtue of Section 82 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978.The purposes of the charity are:• The advancement of health, through:(a) improvement in the physical and mental health of the Board’s population;(b) the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness;(c) the provision of services and facilities in connection to the above; and(d) the research into any matters relating to the causation, prevention, diagnosis or treatment of illness, or into such other matters relating to the health service as the Trustees see fit.The Endowment Fund is in addition to, and separate from, the money used by NHS Shetland to provide day to day health services.Over the years many patients have benefited from the purchase of equipment, additional comforts and amenities all made possible through the generosity of someone making a gift to the Endowment Fund.
