Our Centres in Harrogate and Ripon offer a friendly, relaxed environment where users can just chill out and meet people or involve themselves in the many and varied activities and courses taking place within the Centres.We also work within the local community to promote good mental health for all, and to improve attitudes to people with experience of mental distress so they are treated fairly, positively and with respect.Our objective is to make it possible for people who experience mental distress to live full lives and to play their full part in society.Much of our work relies on donations and all of the gifts we receive are used to provide direct services for people experiencing mental health problems.Mind in Harrogate District is an independent charity and was set up in 1973. We are part of the network of local Mind associations across England and Wales which are affiliated to Mind nationally (www.mind.org.uk). It is incumbent upon us to put decent shelter on the hearts and minds of everyone. 3. Focus on shelter by building and renovating, simple, decent affordable houses We believe that access to safe, decent and affordable housing is a basic human right and should be available to all. 4. Engage broad community through inclusive leadership and diverse partnerships We believe there is a role for everyone committed to our vision, mission and values and we seek to enrich our organisation through diversity. We can best achieve our mission through meaningful and mutually-beneficial partnerships with others. 5. Promote dignity through full partnership with Habitat homeowners and future home partners We believe in the worth and dignity of every human being. We respect the people we serve and those that help us in this effort and recognise them as our greatest resource. 6. Promote transformational and sustainable community development We believe that promoting sustainable community development outcomes transforms the lives of those in need of decent homes and the hearts and minds of everyone along the way.
