The Linda Norgrove Foundation is a grant giving trust, which provides funding for women, families and children in Afghanistan. The Foundation offers help with regard to education and health, childcare including orphanages, and scholarships so that Afghan women can go to University. The Trust has been set up in memory of Linda Norgrove who was kidnapped and subsequently died during a failed rescue attempt in Afghanistan in October 2010. Linda was devoted to ensuring that the people of Afghanistan would achieve prosperity and stability as their country was rebuilt. She was completely committed to her development work and she loved Afghanistan and its people. We have set up this fund in our daughter Linda’s name to continue her work. We have given £100,000 from her and our life savings to demonstrate our commitment to the Foundation. The Foundations Trustees will not be remunerated and will only receive reasonable expenses. The Trustees will ensure that the charity’s funds will be devoted entirely to the charity’s objectives.
Nirvanavan Foundation educates over 500 children in the countryside of Rajsthan, India. They have twelve schools, ten of them situated in villages of the Nat and Kanjer communities where all the women are prostitutes. Educating the children will hopefully provide them some choice as they grow up.
