(UK, 702278) Browse eventsHumber Rescue is an independent charity responsible for the provision of a fast-response rescue boat on the rivers of the Humber Estuary - run entirely by volunteers. We provide help around the clock for individuals and boats in distress. Before our service was set up in 1990, there was no dedicated rescue or safety vessel on the upper Humber, which is one of the most dangerous navigable rivers on Earth. By June 2006, we had already attended 1000 incidents. Our target In 5 years' time our rescue boat will be 14 years old. By that time we expect it to have reached an average of 1400 callouts on the River Hunber and surrounding tributaries. As robust and well maintained as it is, our purpose-built search and rescue boat only has a certain lifespan. Our challenge now is to raise £250,000 to replace it, and keep us a fully operational community lifeboat organisation.
