THE LILY GRACE FOUNDATION (US, 464368547) Browse events

YTD Raised: $5,662.69

The Lily Grace Foundation believes each child challenged by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) has the fundamental right to reach their fullest potential. To help achieve this, we offer educational programs for students and educators, individual scholarships for alternative therapies (which insurance carriers typically will not cover), resources and much needed respite care for overwrought caregivers. In January we implemented a research pilot program called "Relaxation Station" in an ASD Jeffco Public School center based classroom. The goal of this program to help integrate ASD students into general ed classrooms by teaching them self-regulating and calming skills. With our educational programs, medical scholarships and caregiver support we passionately strive to make an impact in the lives of many children who otherwise would not have this type of opportunity for personal growth and expansion. 100% of the profits gained from the Colfax Marathon will go towards implementing "Relaxation Station" into 5 public school ASD classrooms in the Fall 2016/17 school year. Additionally, funds will provide for a new Pilot Program to train Teacher Aids who work in the ASD public school classrooms. Visit www.lilygracefoundation.org for more about us or contact Amanda Shannon, Founder, at [email protected]. A new government survey of parents suggests that 1 in 45 children, ages 3 through 17, have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

CHICAGO HOUSE AND SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY (US, 363376432) Browse events

YTD Raised: $4,155.00

Our Mission: Chicago House and Social Service agency serves individuals and families who are disenfranchised by HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ marginalization, poverty, homelessness, and/or gender nonconformity by providing housing, employment services, medical linkage and retention services, HIV prevention services, legal services and other supportive programs. *****As an agency founded in 1985 to address the needs of those devastated by HIV/AIDS, Chicago House began during the early years of the epidemic, when fear, hostility, and rejection confronted those who were infected. As the first HIV housing provider in the Midwest, we originally provided housing to eight single adults who were dying of AIDS. 30 years later, we now serve more than 1,800 clients annually through our greatly expanded programming, which now includes over 200 units of housing for those living with HIV/AIDS. Due to advances in medicine and subsequent increased life expectancies for those living with HIV, Chicago House greatly expanded programming over the years so that services now include permanent housing, employment services, case management, medication adherence, HIV testing and linkage to medical care, prevention interventions, legal services, and social services designed to lead those living with HIV/AIDS, and in LGBTQ poverty, toward wholeness, self-sufficiency, and better well-being.
