Although the medical care these babies get is amazing, what happens to the parents who are living day by day sometimes hour by hour not knowing whether their tiny, poorly baby will survive - We Do! Primarily based at the two neonatal units in Leicester, we have Family Support Workers who are in daily contact with all new parents at the hospitals, giving them the support and help they need to get them through the very traumatic emotional time of having a special care baby.

YTD Raised: £7,721.48The Trust has been set up to create a legacy in the memory Alexandra, who, on the 2nd April 2013 was diagnosed with Mastitis Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare, rapidly spreading soft tissue cancer. She passed away on the 16th September 2014 aged just 17. The ethos of our Trust is to support children and young people aged 1 to 24 who have been diagnosed with Cancer. The support given to Alexandra during her illness by the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey was without fault. We the Trust and her many friends are committed to raising as much money as possible to help other children in similar circumstances. Alexandra was able to benefit from a number of small charities. A personal shopper day at Top Shop. She was so excited when she came home explaining her day. She was able to have a real hair wig to feel 'normal' for her school prom and was so proud of the MAC laptop she was given. Alexandra requested it because she had every intention, when she recovered, of studying photography as an A level. These donations made her happy and gave her something positive to focus on, a distraction which helped her cope mentally with the enduring treatment. This is the aim of our Trust, to raise ‘Smile Money’. We want to give something to young people being treated for cancer . Maybe it will be another Mac Laptop or a weekend away for the family. We want to gift a memory.

Every day the people who live in Ingwavuma, struggle to survive, dealing with extreme poverty and the full impact of the HIV Aids pandemic. The life expectancy here is 39 years. Action for Ingwavuma helps this community to help itself, working with a women's group and an educational charity. We set up and support community gardens, sponsor orphans, undertake extensive help with water and sanitary projects, fund marketing initiatives for the self-help women's group called Fancy Stitch, buy high nutrient food supplements, have bought an essential vehicle for the women's group etc. All the funds we raise here in the UK go to the charity, all the workers in the UK are volunteers and pay for all their own expenses. We are in constant contact with our charity partners in Ingwavuma and visit regularly to ensure that all the money raised is correctly spent.
