Welcome to the giving website for St Michael's Church, Byker Parish, in Newcastle Upon Tyne. St Michael’s is a local church in the heart of Byker, East Newcastle, with a parish which covers much of the iconic Byker wall estate and going down to the river Tyne. We have been an important part of the Byker Community for over 150 years! We are still here and we’re not going anywhere! We are a family of people from different backgrounds, old and young who together try to work out what it is to be a follower of Jesus today. We meet on Sundays at 11am to worship, give thanks to God and study the Bible. Our tradition is Anglican but with a Byker Twist! and we’re always looking for fresh ideas and creative ways we can bring the good news of Jesus to people. Our services try to be family-friendly and fun (just like Jesus!). The Church is here for the benefit of the whole community and we want to show the people of Byker the amazing love of God. We are here for people through all the stages of life and we offer a place where everyone is welcome and accepted whether you are religious or not. We are a Church based in two places! Our traditional home is the beautiful 19th Century Church situated on Headlam St at the top of Byker. It has the best views of Newcastle in the city (believe me!) and now has the beautiful Byker Garden surrounding it. The church has undergone major repairs over the past 10 years and there is still much to do to update the building but it’s still a great place to worship, inspire and bring people together. Stay tuned to find out more. Our other home is the St Michael’s Centre, an old bakery on Raby Cross. This is a great space for our church to come together, and is where our Church office is located as well as being the home of our regular Youth Cafe.

The primary aim of the Comboni Missionary Sisters is to tell the Good News of Jesus Christ to people who have not yet heard through promoting health-care, education and socio-economic development. Through these activities we learn how to express the Gospel message in terms that the people can grasp and be comfortable with, while their example of compassion and concern causes the message of Christ to be heard in a context of "love God and love your neighbour as yourself'.
