PCC of St Mary and Holy Trinity Bow (UK, 1130902) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,805.00

St Mary and Holy Trinity - or Bow Church as it is commonly known - is a thriving Church of England parish in the East End of London. Our church lies in the middle of Bow Road before the Stratford fly-over. People have been worshipping there for seven centuries and its long and continuous heritage is something we celebrate. But such history also brings a responsibility to ensure that the church building is maintained and restored to a state whereby our vision can be realised - so that the church can be both a sanctuary: a quiet place for reflection, worship and fellowship, bringing people closer to God and to each other; and - due to its unique location - a landmark at the centre of Bow, visible, drawing people in and reaching out to the community. In 2011, we celebrated 700 years of the church with - amongst other things - a series of restoration and improvement works. We gave thanks for the brilliant efforts of all who contributed physically and financially with an anniversary service in November that year. But it did not stop there! As ever with old buildings, there is always work to do - in 2012 we had to carry out more work to stop leaks and replace our boiler. Damp continues to be a problem and extensive works will be required to combat it. Under the leadership of our Rector, Debbie Frazer, the work goes on - not just looking after our church building but also also in reaching out to and engaging with the people of Bow. We would gladly welcome your support!
