The Charitable Objectives of the Church in Reading Women's Centre. Our purpose is to relieve hardship, poverty, and sickness amongst women in need by providing charitable support in particular through education, listening, and information services at all times within a strong Christian ethos and code. We achieve this through the provision of a drop-in and day centre open from Tuesday to Thursday that provides light refreshments throughout the day, a main meal at lunchtime and a variety of activities to help build confidence. We provide training in life skills such as dress-making, computers, literacy, budgeting and nutrition. We have an important support role, and offer access to dealing with stress by providing a listening service. For those who need more specialist help, we offer signposting to bespoke counselling services.
