YTD Raised: £350.00It was 150 years ago that Christ Church was built, and since 1863 the church has been at the heart of this community. In that time East Sheen has grown into a busy and thriving community, with thousands of people now coming through the doors of Christ Church every year. To keep up with the needs of the church and local people we are planning to build a small Community Hall. The architect Purcell, known for their work on St Pauls Cathedral amongst others, have been working with us on the design, which compliments the existing Victorian architecture whilst also creating an airy and modern space. The community hall will have a glazed entrance lobby and large windows. There will be a sliding partition between the entrance lobby and the community hall to provide flexibility of either two separate spaces or one larger space. Additional toilet facilities will enable both the existing and new rooms to be self-contained allowing use of both areas independently. The kitchen will be relocated central to both the new and existing areas. There will also be increased storage facilities. Please support this community project, which will serve the needs of the Church and local people, by donating. Christ Church is one of three churches in the Parish of Mortlake with East Sheen. The other two are St Mary the Virgin, Mortlake and All Saints, East Sheen.

YTD Raised: £335.00St Lawrence’s Church, Stoak is a Grade II* listed building which together with St Thomas & All Saints forms the parish of Ellesmere Port in Cheshire. The church has provided a place for people to worship, be baptised, married and buried for over 700 years. The time has come for us to ensure that St Lawrence continues to be available for these purposes by carrying out much needed restoration work to the roof and the stonework before time runs out. Corroded metal fixings mean that all the slates on the roof are loose and crumbling stone window frames let in rain and wind. The St Lawrence Restoration Fund has been set up to raise funds to enable this work to go ahead. We are also seizing the opportunity to put a time capsule in the form of a hard drive in the roof at the time of the restoration. The capsule will provide future generations with an insight into Ellesmere Port as it is today through videos, photographs, testimonials, newspaper cuttings and street maps.

Currently we are raising money to turn part of our buildings into a Community Hub, the first goal for the Community Hub is to be used as a Youth Cafe. The need in Syston is huge as there is a complete lack of places for young people in the evenings. The Community Hub requires a new entrance and the toilets reconfiguring so that the new entrance can lead directly into what is currently our small hall. We have the design, we have planning permission and are working on building regulations. We have some grants and are looking for more. However, we are still short of quite a few thousand pounds. Every donation will take us closer to our goal of providing a fantastic new resource for our community.
