In the past CatZero has developed successful programmes for school groups, of ages ranging from 11 to 18, and will be continuing to work with schools for the foreseeable future, offering our tailor-made motivational development programmes. In 2011 CatZero completed a 3 year NEET programme with excellent results, exceeding all our targets.Over three years we worked with over 400 young people and of these, over 70% have moved on to either education, employment or training.CatZero worked, and will continue to work, with the most hard to reach young people within Hull and the Yorkshire and Humber area that are categorised as NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) through the delivery of innovative youth development training, allowing them to make progress towards the world of work through challenging educational and personal development programmes. The experience is motivational and designed to bring about attitudinal change to employment. YTD Raised: £755.00Extra Mile is an ethical and responsible, British, education charity (1130879) run by UK volunteers working in one of the poorest countries in the world, Sierra Leone, where the recent, 10 year, civil war largely destroyed its education system and scarred many of its children. Extra Mile sends out volunteer teachers and is building a new, free school and community library to help children and adults from the poorest families in one of the poorest areas of the country. Extra Mile has also set up a teacher-training programme and is helping with local school management. All the funding is invested directly into local projects. There are no ‘third parties’ involved in the work and no funds go through national or regional agencies even though it is fully registered with the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs (MSWGCA/VO/3065). Extra Mile is not giving money, it is helping to build a new generation whose improved educational success will help bring its children out of slavery and develop better healthcare, better governance and provide better skills and understanding within an entire community both now and in the future.

YTD Raised: £590.00We provide long term, effective, sustainable support to 30 physically disabled children at the New Life Centre in Nepal and with virtually no administrative costs. The children usually come from remote and mountainous areas where life for a disabled child is particularly difficult and there is very little medical help or access to education. Disability may occur due to a variety of reasons but often because of untreated accidental injuries and severe burn injuries as a result of babies and young children being left unattended with open cooking fires while their parents work the land. We work closely with the children and staff at the centre assessing their needs and liaising with the local board members of the centre about the best way we can help. The main focus of our support is a commitment to provide a new home which will help the centre save a third of its budget for rent to use for other important expenses. We also help with other essential day to day costs. We liaise with other Nepali and foreign donors of the centre to ensure a web of integrated support that minimises reliance on any one agency alone, thus guaranteeing on going medical care, a caring home, a healthy diet, good education, as well as post school training and further study where appropriate.
