EMpower - The Emerging Markets Foundation is a not-for-profit grantmaking organization that ties the resources of Emerging Markets (EM) professionals world-wide with the vitality of community-based social sector initiatives in developing countries Latin America, Africa, Asia, Russia and Turkey What Makes EMpower Unique? • Concentration on emerging market countries - at a time when many other funders are leaving to work in less developed countries. • Focus on young people and the four critical building blocks for their future - education, health, economic opportunities and leadership. • EMpower values donor input and engages them in decisions about grants and in dialogue with grantee partners about the issues they face and their solutions. • Streamlined, transparent, and highly cost-effective grantmaking model and we give 100% of funds raised from individuals to our grantee partners. EMpowers Approach to Grantmaking EMpowers grantmaking principles are drawn from best practices in business as well as in international grantmaking. These guide not only the selection of grant recipients but also the ways we manage our own organization. Therefore, we seek partners who, like us, are committed to demonstrate effectiveness, transparency, efficiency, an interest in learning and evaluation, solution-oriented thinking, respect for and integration of the knowledge and perspectives of others, and a partnership approach to work. We work to ensure the most effective, efficient use of resources and to minimize bureaucracy in grant application and decision-making. EMpower provides "mezzanine" grants, that is, funding for community-based groups with at least several years experience and a track record of tested approaches including effective results. We are interested in helping such organizations scale up their approaches in new geographies, expand their program offerings or develop new approaches. Institutional capacity-building and financial sustainability should be a priority for future work. www.empowerweb.org

Hi! Welcome to the LivLife donate page. We think everyone deserves to live a life free from poverty and within reach of their dreams in life. The only truly sustainable way of achieving this is to give people education and the capabilities they need to live healthily, happily and achieve their goals. LivLife exists to provide these opportunities through LivLife Centres. These are sustainable, locally-run and locally-relevant education centres. But best of all they are free to all, so that everyone in the communities we work with has the opportunity to live their life, enjoy it, and to do so on their own terms. Heres an idea of where your money goes...

The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk
