(UK, 1161119) The charity Style for Soldiers has been supporting the most seriously injured service personnel at DMRC Headley Court for the past 5 years. In providing bespoke tailor-made shirts, ties and walking sticks they restore an element of pride in the soldier’s appearance and help to give them confidence to appear in public despite their obvious disfigurement. Style for Soldiers also facilitates work placements for the patients which has provided them with a new focus, a new career and hope for the future, and organises networking events. Their support for patients continues long after their discharge from Headley Court and the Services.

Reach is a support group run by families to give them the opportunity to meet others, offer advice and support. Each year, babies are born in the UK missing part of one or both arms and hands. Added to these are a small number of children who lose limbs or parts of limbs due to traumatic incidents or necessary surgery. For many of the families of these children it is the first time that they will have come across such a disability. Reach aims to provide the affected families with the opportunity to get together, share experiences and information about what to do (or not to do) and where to go for advice regarding treatment and to help them realise that they are not alone. We now support over 150 adults with learning disabilities across Notts and we are desperately in need of funds particularly to support our new base in Mansfield and to keep our work going.
