We are the the deaf children's society for Wigan and Leigh.
Welcome to the Kent Deaf Childrens Society CHARITY GIVING PAGE We are a growing, self funded, volunteer led and managed, registered charity, servicing the needs and providing support to deaf children, their families and friend in kent! What we do best: What we would like to do: In order to keep doing what we do well and to ensure we manage what we would like to do, we need to raise funds! We know our members are grateful for our services, but we really do need to do more! We understand that due to communication and the lack of deaf awareness in main stream community, it can be quite isolating being a deaf child. We try to over come this by developing our community, raising deaf awareness and providing relevant information so that the children may grow and socialise together regarly, growing their self confidence, esteem and abilities! Our volunteers are either parents of deaf children, professionals working with deaf children in Kent or deaf adults themselves. Our deaf volunteers are fantastic role models to our deaf children and members of our youth section KDYG (Kent Deaf Youth Group, working with young people between the ages of 12 and 19). They are happy to answer questions from members parents about deafness and their experiences as a child. We have a tall order.......Kent is said to have over 1,000 deaf children (of all levels of loss) living in the county. We would like to ensure all those children, their families and friends are able to access us but obviously this costs. Please help us to help many others. Apart from a small admin charge (for every £1 you donate via Virgin Giving the charity will recieve 96.5 pence) and if you complete the gift aid section we will also recieve gift aid from the HMRC at the same rate as the base tax rate at the time boosting your donation even further. Thank you for choosing to support the Kent Deaf Childrens Society, a local charity for local people, run by local people.
In India the only inheritance that poor children have is poverty, children from poor families grow up to be poor parents. We believe that the only way to break this cycle is through education, leading to better job opportunities for both men and women. At Liberty Children's Home and Student Hostel we believe that every child is a gift from God into whom He has placed a potential. We strive to enable children to discover that potential, to dream big dreams about their future and give them the opportunity to shape their own lives. We do that at Liberty Children's by providing a safe living environment, where the children are given food, clothing, medical care and educational equipment to enable them to attend the village schools, college and even university. Liberty Children's Home is only a small charity, providing for 50 children in purpose built dormitories, in its own secure compound. Some of the children are orphans and for them it is an orphanage, others have a parent or parents with short or long term sickness, who cannot work, and for them it is a large foster home. The number of children at the Home is limited by the funds available and it cannot accomodate all the needy children in the village. But each year it also helps more than 100 of the poorest children in the village, by providing them with all their notebooks, so that they can also attend the village schools. Together with this, it is working with the schools to provide plates so that there are sufficient for the mid day meal. Realising that the Home cannot alway be dependent upon overseas donations, we are currently working with it to develop a buffalo dairy farm, which, although in its early stages, will eventually provide the income to support the children.
St Michaels Fellowship works with vulnerable families in residential centres enabling children to stay with their parents whenever possible and supports teenage mothers and fathers through home visiting and support groups to give them and their children the best start.
The charity finances a boarding school for 400 deprived or destitute girls in Orissa, one of the poorest States in India. These children are the daughters of sex workers, lepers, beggars or itinerant workers who would otherwise receive no education and would just repeat the cycle of poverty.

Respond exists in order to lessen the effects of trauma and abuse on people with learning disabilities, their families and supporters. We do this through providing psychotherapy for people with learning disabilities, advice and support for staff and families, training for carers and professionals, education for people with learning disabilities. We also seek to influence generic services in order to make their services more accessible, to influence learning disability services to consider the psychological impact of living with learning disabilities, and undertake research in the field and to disseminate our findings. Respond is based in London but support people from across the United Kingdom.

Rainbows Bereavement Support GB is a well-respected national charity having a proven positive impact on the lives of children, young people and adults grieving a significant and often devastating loss in their lives. Rainbows offers training in bereavement and loss, and supports communities in reviewing or developing their own bereavement policy and procedures. We believe that training in bereavement and loss should be part of every school’s programme for the continuous professional development of all staff and that Rainbows programmes should be available to all children and young people in all schools. Through locally based Registered Directors, the charity offers training in the use of Rainbows age related peer support programmes which help foster emotional healing among children, young people and adults. On-going support is provided to affirm and advise the trained facilitators and co-ordinators that run the programmes in schools, colleges, prisons and other community settings.

"The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing" - Albert Einstein. The Butterfly Project was formed to help empower children and orphans around the world, by providing them with support on the bare necessities, until they are self-sufficient and able to stand on their own. Providing basic needs such as clean water, healthy food, sanitation projects, shelter and medication along with other long-term projects such as providing a decent level of education, sport, recreational projects and increasing awareness of public health issues are the ethos of what the Butterfly Project are hoping to achieve. Five of our eight trustees are successful medical doctors, all insured to cover out medical procedures abroad, administering vaccines and educating children and parents on public health issues. The other two trustees are committed to supporting I.T, sports and music programmes, providing educational and recreational support for children around the world. Our mission is to collaborate with smaller local charities, who have the knowledge and access to the wider issues affecting struggling children and orphans in their local communities. By collaborating with these trusted charities, we are able to cut costs and maximise our reach within unknown territory, making sure your donations go a lot further. The Butterfly project is a non-exclusive charity dedicated to supporting children across the globe, without any bias or favouritism. We are 100% non-profit, where our volunteers and trustees take no form of income. By dedicating our time and resources to various projects on an annual basis, we hope to bring change to many children struggling desperately for survival. Please help us bring this change by donating little or large, it all makes a massive difference in lifting the spirits of the children we are trying to support.
