Friends Of Stepping Stones (UK, 1128504) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,158.00

Friends of Stepping Stones is an independent registered charity, which exists for the sole purpose of supporting the work of ‘Stepping Stones’, and for the benefit of the children and families who receive help and support from the project." We collect funds for and distribute funds to Stepping Stones Stepping Stones Childrens Centre provides services for pre-school children who have an emerging or diagnosed disability. At Stepping Stones, children take part in activities both in a group, and working one-to-one with a project worker. Play workers are also on site to facilitate play and learning opportunities and to be with children between one-to-one sessions. This facility is available to all families in Swansea who are referred by health professionals (since attendance is based on disability), and no other similar facility exists within the area. Friends of Stepping Stones is an organisation which was started by families whose children attend or attended the Stepping Stones project, and who want to provide fundraising and support for the Centre. FoSS has existed since 2000 in its current form, and obtained independent Charity status in March 2009. Stepping Stones should be available to all children in the Swansea area with a disability, but due to funding restrictions this is not possible and therefore the referring health professionals must decide amongst potential attendees. Even once this has been done there are still waiting lists. However, more staff at Stepping Stones means that more children can attend the project, and so FoSS is trying to improve staffing levels in order to ensure that the maximum number of children can attend the project. FoSS is an organisation that collects funds on behalf of Stepping Stones and gifts these funds to the Centre for appropriate projects.

RWANDAN ORPHANS PROJECT, CENTRE FOR STREET CHILDREN (UK, 1159768) Browse events

YTD Raised: £1,113.00

Thank you for visiting the ROP's fundraising page! The ROP supports some of Rwanda's most vulnerable children and families. We offer former street children a home, hope and opportunities. We do this by providing a home for children who are living on the streets of Rwanda, providing them with an education, healthcare and counselling. We also trace their families and help to rebuild and strengthen the family unit. We have an excellent track record in reuniting children with their families, with the help of our experiened and dedicated social work team. We currently provide care for around 200 children - some live at the Imizi Children's Center in Kigali, which we fund, and some are supported by Imizi to live within their families. We also operate a free primary school for local children in our neighbourhood, giving 70 children the chance of a quality, free education which they may not be able to access otherwise. We do all of this on a very tight budget, with very little institutional support. Nearly all of our funding comes from individuals around the world who want to support our work transforming the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in Rwanda. We couldn't do what we do without your support, so thank you! And we do a lot with your money - all donations go directly to the Imizi Children's Center in Rwanda - none of it is spent in the UK.  ROP is the sister organisation of the ROP USA, a registered charity based in San Diego, and Imizi Children's Center in Rwanda, which both ROP UK and ROP USA fund. For more information on our work, please visit our website.
