St. Yared's Trust supports The School of St. Yared, an educational blue print for eradicating poverty in deprived communities in Addis Ababa. The school provides some of the highest quality education available in Ethiopia and comprehensive pastoral care to children living in extreme poverty. The objective is to create impactful leaders with the skills to improve their own life chances, to lead their communities out of poverty and to contribute to the Ethiopian economy. Our Children. The parents/carers of our children are for the most part illiterate and unskilled earning as day labourers. They live in a constant state of food, work and shelter insecurity. Children have to make a contribution to the household from a very young age. There is little or no healthcare, malnutrition and disease is common, and many of the children have suffered severe emotional traumas. Without our help education for these children is unsustainable. Our funds are limited and we must ensure they are used effectively. We select bright children from those most in need. We take only one child per family so as to spread the benefit widely, gain a larger audience for our community social programmes, and ensure greater community involvement for our school activities. The Education. The Pastoral Care. Without this package education for these children is unsustainable. The Goal. The school's work has not gone unrecognised. They have been given 4 parcels of land for development. There are currently 217 children on the roll. The goal is to have 1000 in 10 years. Please Donate. Help us to expand, to transform more children's lives, and to eradicate poverty in their communities.

Education Exchange is a small family-run charity. We've been in existence since 2003. We support local people in and around Wundanyi in the province of Taita, southern Kenya. We support four projects in Kenya: We also work in a number of UK schools in partnership with the Kenyan High Commission in London. Over the last 13 years we have built up close working relationships with many local people. We have enabled them to climb out of poverty, improve their income levels, gain IT qualifications, build a business, educate their kids, stay healthy. We aim to help people help themselves. Life in Kenya is much more precarious for most people than our lives are in the UK, but we have seen amazing examples of talent and determination leading to individual growth and success. Since 2003 we have raised over £100,000 and every penny has gone to help our Kenyan partners: with Education Exchange there are no admin costs or on-costs.

The Lotus Children's Centre Charitable Trust is dedicated to providing care, accommodation support and education to orphaned, abused, and abandoned children in Mongolia. The Lotus Children's Centre was set up in 1993 by Australian Didi Kalika, who started simply by giving food and basic medical care to children living on the streeets of Ulaanbaatar. She soon realised that more was needed, and with the help of friends built a small home for the children in the ger district of Yarmag, on the outskirts of the capital. Harsh economic conditions in Mongolia resulted in more babies and children being abandoned, and the project grew. In 1997 Didi founded a kindergarten, and this was then followed by The Lotus Primary School. Since then Lotus has cared for and educated up to 150 children at any one time, in small family units each looked after by a housemother. As the children have grown up there has been an increasing emphasis on vocational training programmes to prepare them for adulthood. Lotus also runs a Guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar staffed almost exclusively by ex-Lotus children, which not only provides employment as the older children leave school, but also generates profits which contribute towards the running costs of the Centre. In 2009 Didi Kalika was awarded the Order of Australia for her services to the street children of Mongolia.
