We are passionate in our desire to respond to the needs of the local community, and in growing people. We promote the active involvement of young people in society and the development of healthy, sustainable communities. We empower young people so that they can play a vital role in shaping their own lives. Our aim is to fully support every young person to have a sense of belonging, make a positive contribution and fulfil their individual potential. Our diverse work comprises of supporting residents in our hostels to build a future, running youth projects, and offering a vibrant childrens programme to some of the most deprived and vulnerable children and young people in the area.
The Tree Club is an after school club and holiday club for children and young people with additional needs based in Blackburn, West Lothian. We provide stimulating, energetic and creative activities for children and young people, with one to one support if required. We have a high staff to child ratio which enables children to increase social awareness, and become more engaged in activities and form friendships outwith home and school. Children and young people with additional needs have little or no opportunity to be included in mainstream activities or play with friends in their home town, and rely on the Tree Club to provide an opportunity to interact with their peers and reduce isolation for themselves and their families. Parents of children who attend club use the time to, e.g. return to work, do training courses, spend time with the childs siblings and recharge their batteries. Parents fees equate to about 20% of the cost of running the club. Fees are comparable to mainstream after school clubs. We therefore appreciate the generosity of companies, charities and individuals to provide grants and donations to survive.
