The purpose of Scouting is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual ,social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. 1st Poulner Scout Group was formed in 1970 and moved to its purpose built Headquarters in Southampton Road in 1981.  From here, the Group has gradually grown over the years and now operates two Beaver Colonies, two Cub Packs, a Scout Troop and an Explorer Unit.  In all, the Group has over 150 young people as members and over 40 adults who play a key part in the smooth running of the Group.  1st Poulner Scout Group is currently working on a project to build a Multi Activity Centre at its Group Headquarters at Poulner. This will not only benefit the Scout Group, but the wider community in general and in particular local schools. The Centre will include facilities forshooting, archery and also a climbing wall.

Millie is a 6 year old little girl born with an inherited cardiac arrythmia who had the dream to make all her friends, family and community safe in the event of cardiac arrest by maximising the availability of defibrillators around her community, with the hope to proceed nationwide. Alongside the installation of these defibrillators, the Dream will ensure the education of the school children, their parents, staff and local community residents. 12 young People die every week in Great Britain from Sudden Cardiac arrest. Milllies Dream aims to maximise the successful outcome of sudden cardiac arrest by ensuring close proximity to these life saving defibrillators.
