(UK, 1025482) Browse eventsWe’ve built the Eiffel Tower.... .......now we are wanting to build a new headquarters Who are we? Burley Scouts and Guides activities include all aspects of scouting and Guiding for children between 6-18, and encourges work and help in the local community What are we doing? The Group wants to replace its headquarters building off Peel Place. Why are we building a new HQ Scouting and Guiding is thriving in Burley: we have 300 young people who are able to take park in activities, and a further 150 on the waiting list, since we lack sufficient capacity to take them. The present building is old, has been extended three or four times, is hugely inefficient on energy use and lacks modern facilities. It’s still standing and functioning because the Group has maintained it well but it won’t last for ever and we want to replace it before we face a crisis. The last serious consideration of the need was ten years ago and a decade has passed. By careful design, we can increase capacity without greatly increasing the building footprint for the Group HQ. A feasibility study has shown that we can do this, improve access and parking and still retain a grassed area for outdoor activities. That is all within our own site; the community field will not be affected. Community Use Those of you involved in other organisations within our very active and growing village will know the pressure on venues. So we aim is to be able to offer good facilities for community use at times when our units are not meeting. Tour de France Eiffel Tower The Tour de France provided great opportunity to raise the profile of our work and the Group built a 7m high tower as a tribute to the great race and to mark the start of its fund raising campaign http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/11311193.VIDEO__The_Burley_in_Wharfedale_Eiffel_Tower_is_unveiled_for_Tour_de_France_weekend/?ref=rss http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/main-topics/general-news/towering-tribute-1-6703032 http://www.francetvinfo.fr/monde/video-tour-de-france-la-grande-bretagne-prete-a-accueillir-la-petite-reine_639797.html If you feel that the scouts and guides dererve a contribution towards their fund raising efforts, please feel free to make a donation

It will help provide materials and resources for the Electric Storm Youth Drop In Sessions. It will help provide the necessary admin and support activities as we seek to raise £3 million to build the Electric Storm Youth Centre, and it will move us closer to that target. So make a difference, support our young people and make a gift today. Electric Storm Youth has a long-term vision to provide and run a Centre for the young people in Adur, and has recently received planning permission to build. The provision of the Electric Storm Youth Centre will give young people a place to call their own, leading them away from the streets and any activities that may be detrimental to them and the community. The social, arts, sport, leisure and vocational activities provided, will develop their potential by helping them with skills and interests that will enhance their lives and increase their employment potential.Once built, the Electric Storm Centre will be open to the youth every evening from 4pm –10pm and also during the weekend. Outside of these times or as rooms are available, the facility will be available for hire by other community groups. The opportunities to volunteer in the running of the Centre will aid the development of leadership skills and community awareness, enhancing community cohesion to the benefit of all. (UK, SC010415) Browse eventsWelcome to the Virgin Money giving page for Scouting in Clyde Region. Scouting offers challenge and adventure to more than 8,000 young people and 1,300 adults across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire. We do some pretty amazing things in Scouting, but for us, adventure is a way of life and not just an activity or expedition. Our Scouts grow in confidence by trying out new skills and stretching themselves. Whether it’s an Explorer trying out his French on an international trip or a Scout leading his Patrol for the first time, each time we challenge ourselves, it’s a step forward. When a Scout stands up to a bully, or sticks up for what they believe in; that’s an adventure. All donations received through this page will be used to support the development of young people and adult volunteers.
