When you’re the World’s Best, what do you do next? For David ‘The Weirwolf’ Weir CBE, and his inspirational coach Jenny Archer, the answer is legacy: with the launch in 2013 of their charity, the Weir Archer Academy, they have realised a long-held dream to give sporting opportunities at all levels to the next generation of disabled people. For health. For self-development. For social inclusion. And for some, the ultimate sporting success. 3 GOALS GET INVOLVED We’re well on our way, but we can’t do it alone. We’re a charity and we need funding to support our activities; promoting and running the charity, providing equipment (a basic racing chair costs £3000!), training coaches, building accessible, inclusive facilities - it’s an extensive list. But every little helps! And whether you're a star fundraiser who raises thousands, or you can just afford £1, it all adds up and really does make a difference... "Our young son has always resented his disability and has had a difficult time coming to terms with it. Since joining the Weir Archer Academy, he has really been enjoying his time on the track, and for the first time ever, he turned to us the other day and said he was proud to be disabled."
