Bristol Rugby Community Foundation (BRCF) work with some of the most disaffected and at risk young people in our Community today. BRCF use the engagement power of sport, and the unique qualities of rugby union in particular, to build rapport with nominated young people from designated schools in order to effectively deliver vocational and educational rugby courses. We achieve this engagement by combining the values and ethics that rugby union hold dear such as honesty and integrity, with a requirement for positive and co-operative teamwork to achieve successful outcomes, with the inclusive requirement for all body shapes and sizes for each position and a the use of aggression and aggressive behaviour, but in a controlled environment. Our programmes provide real and tangible examples of how poor life choices can, and will affect the short, middle and long term futures of the young people we work with. To this end, BRCF are proud to have won 5 national and regional awards for Innovation, Social Inclusion, Best Practice and Partnership working in the past 3 years.
