Tennis For Free is a charity set up to promote re-invigorating public park tennis courts across the country, opening them up for FREE to all of the community and creating thriving tennis communities run by the community, for the community. We aim to change the public perception of the game by making it fast, fun and fully inclusive, we want to introduce a new breed of player to the game and to ensure we safeguard sports facilities that are being lost at an alarming rate. Tennis For Free is on a huge expansion programme, opening up to 50 new sites nationwide in a 3 year period, bringing our weekend mass participation programme to over 40,000 new players, most of which would otherwise not have the opportunity to play the game. Ten years ago there were 30,000 public tennis courts, today there are 10,000, other public sports facilities are also being lost. Schools have sold off land to raise revenue, the government tells us we are not doing enough exercise yet it continues to allow these facilities to disappear, we at Tennis For Free aim to continue to lobby sporting bodies, lobby local and national government and do our best to save the courts that are left, encourage everyone in the community to use their facility and try out Tennis, it is after all one of the few games that can be played on an equal level by either sex or at any age, it is a game for life!
