Muslim Care (UK, 1014983) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Established in 1991, Muslim Care was set up by a group of successful businessmen and has since worked to relieve the plight of the needy across the third world, through the promotion of three main objectives: Education, health and self-sufficiency. Since Muslim Care’s modest beginnings, we have established a number of schools and healthcare facilities among communities in Kenya, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bosnia and Bangladesh. Many of these projects have been carried out in co-operation with other reputable charities with similar aims. Sectors of Work: Access to Education Our projects are mainly education-focused and are aimed at both adults and children. Our remit includes building and equipping schools and teacher training. Healthcare Our programmes have included building, equipping and running healthcare centres, sponsoring midwives & birth attendants, sponsoring ambulances to service remote areas and raising money for charitable organisations already working in this sector. Water and sanitation facilities Our projects include digging wells and building water supply systems. Emergency Relief We work hand in hand with other charities to provide emergency relief to humanitarian disasters. We also raise funds for long-term development in these areas. Mentoring and Befriending We have launched local initiatives, working with and befriending young Muslims in London, who fall in the ‘at risk’ and ‘socially excluded’ categories. We also work with offenders and ex-offenders, with the support of Prison Chaplains & Imams.

Yorkshire Wolds Railway (UK, 1146990) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Yorkshire Wolds Railway Restoration Project was formed in October 2008, exactly 50 years after closure of the Malton to Driffield line. We are working towards restoring at least part of the railway as a heritage attraction, working with all interested parties to enhance tourism in the area. This will be the only Heritage Railway in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We know the real benefits that similar projects (both small and large) bring to areas in other parts of the country and hope our region will be able to see these benefits too. With planning permission in place and having already secured a first round of funding, we are now starting work on-site and need your help to continue fund raising. With your help we can realise our aims and give East Yorkshire a much needed tourist attraction.

tri4japan (UK, 1141488) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Japan is gripped by its worst disaster since World War 2.Earthquakes, tsunami and now nuclear radioactivity fears. My Japanese wife Rieko and I lived in Japan for many years and have family and friends there. On Friday 11th March 2011, we watched in horror when the earthquake and tsunami hit Eastern Japan. We instantly knew we had to do something. One of the port towns called Kamaishi was literally washed away in front of our eyes. Kamaishi was the town on TV that really struck a chord string with us. Suddenly, this was real and it suddenly this was personal. When we saw buildings we had stayed in, shops we had visited, and roads we had walked down, vanish in front of our eyes, under the relentless surge of that all consuming Tsunami, we knew we had to act. Not only people suffering in Kamaishi, but those affected all over Japan, and if we had the resources, all people suffering in the world. However, we are just two people, with limited resources and limited time. Rather than watch in vain and prey, we put a stake in the ground and said, Now is the time to act. The earthquake and Tsnuami we saw hit Kamaishi was the catalyst, for our call to action. Why Tri ? Triathlon is all we know, I have been involved in triathlon for 25 years, it is not only our livelihood and our hobby, and a way of life. Although we say tri4japan, we want to include all sports, swim, bike run, endurance and sprint, individual and team. The true essence of our mission is that all people from all sports around the world come together and TRY FOR JAPAN. We have started Tri4Japan to raise money to help the people of Kamaishi who in many cases have literally lost everything in this devastating disaster. Please support us!

Paul's Trust (UK, 1099545) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Paul's Trust is a small family charity based in Windsor, that helps children with various disabilities find that little extra something. Whether it is in the form of a new tricycle as an aid to physiotherapy and fun, or therapy with dolphins to assist with personal development. Paul's Trust considers the individual requirements of all children that apply for help. Thank you to Anna Friel who has agreed to be Patron of our charity. The History of Paul’s Trust Founded 2001 Paul Williams, the founder of Paul’s Trust began his plight to help children with disabilities eleven years ago. It started with a health check . To motivate him to loose weight he decided to do so for charity. Whilst thinking this through, he was approached by a friend who told him about a local 8 year old girl with Muscular Atrophy. She was in need of an electric wheelchair but was unable to get help from the local Wheelchair Services. So Paul’s first mission was on a roll. Lose weight, get sponsors and see how much money could be raised towards this chair. To support this he decided to arrange a charity golf day that included an auction and raffle. Anybody willing was asked to provide prizes. The first year he raised £7,500. This was donated solely to the young girl. A chair was purchased and the remainder put into a trust for any other products or assistance she needed in the future. After the third year Paul’s Trust was officially started following an annual format of a golf day with an auction and raffle.  Other events have been added to help raise funds to ensure Paul’s Trust can continue to support children of various abilities and needs. The amazing thing to mention with this is the financial support also received from other people and companies. The help has been endless and continues to be very much appreciated. With thanks, Paul Williams

Rapid Aid Community First Responders (UK, 1135529) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Rapid Aid community First Responders, are based in Middleton near Tamworth, Staffordshire. We serve the community as a voluntary organisation that provides support to West Midlands Ambulance service, by responding to 999 calls with the area we cover. When a patient dials 999, we are dispatched by the emergency operations centre to commence treatment prior to the arrival of an ambulance. As we are based in the local community we can arrive on scene sooner than an ambulance, this can be invaluable in cases of cardiac arrest. We are never sent instead of an ambulance always in addition to the ambulance. The area we cover expands throughout Middleton, Tamworth, drayton Bassett, Bassets Pole, Sutton Coldfield, Chelmsley Wood, Coleshill, Water Orton, Curdworth, Kingsbury, Lea Marston and many more surrounding areas. All this cover doesnt come cheap though, with the increase in fuel prices and VAT it costs nearly £800 per month just to keep the vehicles on the road. We are always looking for donations, sponsorship and support from the general public and local businesses. If you feel you could help in any way then please contact us (details below). Rapid-Aid is a registered charity and as such all funds are gained from donations or fundraising events. Each responder volunteers their own time to respond to 999 emergencies. Please help us to help you.

Mercy Trucks Limited (UK, 1087704) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Mercy Trucks is an organisation of professional and/or dedicated volunteers who help link the resources of one part of the world to the needs of another by using shipping containers and trucks. We also work in the area of disaster relief and provide equipment and supplies, along with opportunities for volunteers to support and encourage locals who are working to create sustainable community development, including agricultural, sports, educational and medical infrastructure. We then convert the trucks into mobile medical and dental units, which then act as a stepping-stone into building up a more permanent healthcare infrastructure. We are also endeavoring to attack the massive scale problems of child trafficking, child prostitution and child slavery and working to support vocational training facilities for young people who have had to endure such unfortunate circumstances. It is only through the generosity of those who partner with us, that we are able to realise our vision of empowering the hurting, with hope and healing.
