Bethany Village Leprosy Society (UK, 291107) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Bethany Village Leprosy Society (BVLS) is a small, UK-based charity which raises funds to support positive social development and welfare programmes in a self-established and run south Indian leprosy colony called Bethany. BVLS helps Bethany to find alternatives to begging for the 1,000 or so people resident there, who, because of the stigma associated with leprosy, have difficulty in finding alternative employment. We provide funds to help run the communitys clinic, elementary school and a range of income generation schemes -- including the production of bags and table linen -- as well as direct funding for the healthy sons and daughters of people affected by leprosy to undertake vocational training or degree-level education. All this support helps Bethany move towards its goal of self-sufficiency. As a small charity, run entirely by volunteers, BVLS sends all donations 100% to Bethany, covering its minimal administrative costs from a small proportion of regular supporters membership fees.

The Roy Kinnear Charitable Foundation (UK, 1056641) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Foundation was established to provide a home for life for people with profound and complex learning and physical disabilities who need nursing care, a high degree of personal care and significant social support. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people to live in an ordinary residential setting, living life to the full as independently and actively as possible, whilst maintaining their health and ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing. We specialise in providing a home for young adults, often following a period in a residential school or living with family, who wish to move on and develop an independent life. A key objective is to ensure a smooth and successful transition from school or family to adult life, whilst maintaining as much contact with family and friends as possible. We aim to ensure that, whilst people have the benefits and fun of house-sharing with others, we also support them with as much 1:1 staff time as possible to develop their own individual interests and activities, including as much participation in the local community as they wish. Most of our funding comes from the statutory authorities who support each resident and this covers our core operational costs which are significant due mainly to the high ratio of staff to residents. We also seek charitable donations and grant funding from other sources to supplement this income and to enable us to enhance the quality of life of our residents.

Surrey Infantry Museum (UK, 277008) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The tragic news of the fire at Clandon House has been widely reported on all media. What is less well known is that Clandon House was the home to the Surrey infantry Museum showcasing the Counties link to local Infantry regiments from the mid 17th Century through to the modern day. Principally covering the Queens Royal Regiment and the East Surrey Regiment. Through to the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment. The museum displays held regimental items of interest including uniforms, paintings, photographs, medal collections and other unique memorabilia. One of the items potentially lost is one of the regimental footballs used by Lt Neville on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, one of only two still in existence. At this early stage the future of the display is uncertain, however we are keen to raise funds so that as many items as possible are put on public display in the future.
