This year we have launched various new initiatives to bring about change in our city from after school clubs to providing food and accommodation for the homeless, from running social activities for those in sheltered housing to assisting young people into work. These are just a flavour of some of our current initiatives, we have big plans to launch more to reach all areas of our community. OUR OBJECTIVES: To preserve, protect and promote the ocular health of homeless and vulnerable people in the UK who are unwilling or unable to access mainstream services available through the NHS by providing a comprehensive high quality service free at the point of use. This includes ocular health screening and the provision of spectacles that meets the immediate visual needs of our beneficiaries in a safe, accessible, friendly and comfortable environment. WHAT WE DO: We carry out a fully comprehensive eye examination and provide spectacles all totally free of charge. Homeless people are more vulnerable than the general population. They have a higher risk of being assaulted or having property stolen, so spectacles might be lost or broken beyond repair.  OUR PRIORITIES: We now have three centres in London and one in Birmingham. We have others under discussion in Brighton, Newcastle and Oxford.  OUR ASPIRATIONS: Our ultimate aim is to expand this service nationwide to all the major cities, so as to make a difference to as many homeless and vulnerable people as we can. We are actively working towards that.

Our aim is to help orphaned children by providing a home, family, care and education. We are based in both Jersey and Kenya, with our first recently built home just beyond the outskirts of Nairobi. We believe education is the key to self-sufficiency. That is why we place such a strong emphasis on educating the children. Without such emphasis, any assistance would simply be a band aid solution and not fix the long-term problems affecting these areas. We help our children reach new heights by inspiring them to develop the desire and capacity to break the cycle of poverty and to become the best that they can be. It is our goal to develop future leaders among these children so that one day they can help make their country self-sufficient. We must obtain on-going funding for the maintenance of the children and future paid staff. We started with just three children and volunteer helpers. Please help us help more.

MUKTI was created by the TYA to support street children and abandoned widows in India. We also help charities for the homeless in the UK. We are holding an afternoon of sponsored Sun Salutations on 22 June 2014 to raise money for the three Care homes in India which we are currently supporting.
