Open Door works with and for homeless people and those who are 'vulnerably housed' to support them into accommodation and to reintegrate them into society. We do this through providing 2 weekly drop-ins where people can eat a hot meal and access advice and support services such as housing, health, mental health and drug and alcohol support. The drop-in sees around 50 people each week.

Our principal activity is the running of 2 Children’s Homes for 165 destitute children. Bethel Children’s Home is in the suburbs of Chennai, and Joy Children’s Home (for victims of the 2004 Tsunami). We also help with small business loans, widow care and medical camps.

We work with women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless and need help to find and settle into accommodation.  Whilst our services are predominantly to support women, we also support women with children and men experiencing domestic abuse. WHAG supports women living in the boroughs of Rochdale and Bury including, Littleborough, Middleton, Heywood, Milnrow, Whitefield, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Totting ton and Ramsbottom. WHAG offer group work sessions in the community and  is  involved in awareness raising events in school s  where  resources allow (by arrangement ).  We also currently run the Recovery Toolkit and Freedom  Programme in Bury and The Recovery Toolkit in Rochdale.  For dates please see our website. www.whag.info   BURY SERVICES Domestic Abuse Floating Support Housing related support for women and men (16+) who have their own tenancies and have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. Support can be provided for up to 9 months.   Rose Court  Supported Accommodation Supported accommodation for single women (18+) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Support can be provided for up to 1 year.   Rose Court  Emergency Accommodation Support for single women (18+) who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.  Support to help them find suitable accommodation, provided up to 12 weeks   Resettlement Service Support for single women (18+) or women with children to obtain, move and settle into a new tenancy. Above Us Only Sky? is a Christian charity which was started out of a need to try to find immediate solutions for those who are living rough on the streets. For many homeless people there is no other option and the conditions that they face are bleak. Above Us Only Sky? provides life-saving, military-style, all weather sleeping bags, capable of keeping someone warm and dry whatever the conditions may be. However, the sleeping bag is just the start; we offer support in other ways too, meeting not just their physical but also their spiritual needs, to show them God’s love and to treat them with respect and dignity. Many homeless people who have received an Above Us Only Sky? sleeping bag attest to the fact that it saved their life and restored their sanity. We continue to work with the recipients of our sleeping bags to find accommodation, work and a sense of community.
