The infrastructure is poor, industry is non-existent, and many people live in extreme poverty. Being a remote area, access is limited and the government is hugely restricted in how much it can help the local schools. These schools struggle to deliver even the most basic education with extremely limited resources. Beyond the children’s immediate need for food, clothes and medicines, the charity believes that education, practical training and awareness of the importance of their environment is essential for them to lead a sustainable life.

Good food that has just been over ordered or delivered with the wrong colour lablels. FareShare Cymru redistributes the food to charities supporting those in food poverty, especially the homeless. We use volunteers to run the depots, very often the same disadvantaged people who receive food. They get training and experience doing something worthwhile and maybe getting them into paid employment. Every £10 donated stops 32kg of good food going to waste, instead providing 30-40 meals and saving 110kg of carbon dioxide from landfill. But we need around 500 £10 donations every month so please spread the word.
