Our main areas of work at present are providing emergency food and clothes to those in need in Southampton through SCM Basics Bank and delivering Christian schools work, mainly in primary schools across the City . SCM Basics Bank operates from 6 venues across Southampton. Our part-time Supervisor works alongside teams of dedicated volunteers to help people from a wide range of backgrounds who find themselves in a crisis. Clients are referred to us by referral agents (e.g. health visitors, social services, other charities) and receive 5 days of food and/or a voucher for clothes depending on their needs. Clients are welcomed with a cuppa and friendly chat whilst their food parcel is prepared. We hold information on other support services so that we can direct clients towards further help.SCM Schools delivers regular assemblies and whole R.E. days in 40 schools in and around Southampton.Through R.E. days we support schools in delivering the Christian elements of the R.E. curriculum. We work in line with their planning to put together a day of teaching and activities centred around the current theme. YTD Raised: £0.00Meal on Me is a community based charity (SCIO) started in July 2013. It is inspired by the Suspended Coffee scheme originated in Italy. Our aim is to ensure that vulnerable people needing a hot tasty meal can get it. Rather than having a café(s) run the scheme with individuals coming and asking for a meal, our vouchers are given to our partnering organisations who distribute them to individuals. The following diagram shows our main modus operandi. We also take in referrals and work with our own clients.

Cotswold Riding for the Disabled

YTD Raised: £0.00We offer riding lessons for disabled and special needs children and adults in the Gloucestershre area and are based at Cheltenham racecourse. We have 200 hundred riders supported by around 150 volunteers every week throughout term time, which equates to 6,930 lessons per year. All the riders are physically disabled or have learning difficulties/special needs and all receive positive help and a real boost to their confidence during their time with the group. We receive no external financial support and rely totally on our own fund raising activities and the fundraising of our volunteers. Our operating cost last year was £120,000 which included £2,000 per pony per annum (we currently have 12 ponies) for vet’s fees, food and shoes.

YTD Raised: £0.00VETAID is a Scottish-based organisation who works to reduce poverty and increase food security for people in sub-Saharan Africa who are dependent on livestock. We currently work in Tanzania, Kenya and Somalia. The communities we work with are dependent - often completely- on animals for their food and income. By providing local people with basic animal health skills and equipment, their animals are healthier, providing a more reliable source of meat, eggs and dairy products. Not only does this mean that the community is healthier as they have a secure source of food, but they are also able to earn an income from the sale of any excess produce. Each year, VETAID improves the lives of over a million people.
