(UK, 1154840) The Lounge is an innovative project aimed at supporting the local community through events and services, both at The Lounge venue in Alvechurch and via outreach programmes. The Lounge is owned and run by ACT (Alvechurch Communities Together), a registered charity set up to support the communities of Alvechurch and surrounding areas.All profits from the sale of food and refreshments, as well as room hire and other services, are reinvested back into this project and used to fund a wide range of activities we provide for various community groups in the local area - especially young people.ACT was founded, and continues to be run by, volunteers from the local community with the very generous support of local businesses and residents. We are proud of what has been achieved through the hard hard work and collective efforts of so many in our community and we look forward to your continued support for this project. Blackburn foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust national network of foodbanks, providing a minimum of 3 days worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people in crisis in Blackburn.We collect non-perishable food which is donated by the public through churches, schools and supermarket collections. Front line care professionals e.g. social workers, doctors etc refer people to the foodbank with a voucher which is exchanged for 3 days worth of food. Over a chat and a drink we listen and signpost clients to other agencies for support. Karuri School Project Trust

YTD Raised: £0.00The Karuri School in Kenya opened in January 2011 and currently has about 120 pupils, around 40 of whom are boarders, by virtue of being orphaned or vulnerable. The long term aim is to accommodate 240 children. It is the dream of one remarkable woman, Wangari Cecilia, and is supported by a small group of dedicated, unpaid, volunteers based in Northampton. The Charity pays for the needs of these children, including food, medical costs and the salaries of local teachers. The School now has classrooms, dormitories and kitchen, washing and toilet facilities. Basic electricity has been installed. But there is still much work to be done including: more classrooms, staff living accomodation, better sanitation and water harvesting. The charity is working to raise money for these essential improvements. The Hebe Holmes Memorial Fund exists solely to raise money for the Karuri Project and welcomes your support. Hebe Holmes died in 2012 aged 16. She would have been proud, delighted and amazed that her name and her memory were benefiting children who deserve the opportunity to make their mark in the World. YTD Raised: £0.00Lilly Uganda is a UK charity that aims to provide shelter, medical care and education to children who were living in poverty in Kampala, Uganda. We operate two projects, the first is the Education Programme which currently supports 11 children to attend secondary school providing for school fees uniforms and school requirements. The second project is Rafiki House which is home for children who have been abandoned or have relatives who live in extreme poverty. There are 24 children who stay at the house ranging in age from 5-15 years old. Rafiki House is a place for them to feel the security they have never had before. They are learning they can just focus on their studies and making friends rather than the huge responsibilities that they have previously faced. After many years eating a poor diet and often just one meal a day the children all now receive highly nutritious food and the charity covers all their medical costs. All of the children attend Makamu Junior School. On 1 June a group of adventurers from Staines will be climbing Snowdon in order to raise money for Lilly Uganda, if you would like to sponsor them then please click on the button below.

The aims of the Charity are to provide Relief and Education within a Christian ethos in the Kajo Keji district of the newly formed country of South Sudan Through much hard work over the last 18 months, a total of c£40,000 has been donated and a continuous sponsorship of 30 children is now under way to provide education where none would occur without this assistance. The provision of Educational fees, IT equipment and medical supplies together with assistance with sanitation and water filters, have all formed part of the initial work of the Charity. The programme is to work towards a plan of more widespread education, leading towards a move from an impoverished subsistence existence, towards a society that can afford to educate its people and develop an agriculture that will provide both regular basic food and also regular income No expenses are taken from donations.
