In the last 12 months we have fed over 5000 people in crisis in our city! People come to us in all sorts of situations; some who find themselves in unexpected crises, perhaps due to redundancy or debt, while others we help to move on to a new life away from circumstances like homelessness, abuse and human trafficking. We are so grateful to all those who support us by giving food, time and finances. With your help we can continue to feed the hungry and help people turn their situations around.

We are a group of people who share the vision of a world in which a child doesn’t have a stomach bloated by starvation while we struggle with obesity, a world in which a mother doesn’t have that desperate look in her eyes bought on by hearing her child’s cry of hunger while we struggle with overindulgence, a world in which a father’s pride isn’t torn while he is reduced to begging because he can’t find a job, while we struggle with consumerism.

The Karuri School in Kenya opened in January 2011 and currently has about 120 pupils, around 40 of whom are boarders, by virtue of being orphaned or vulnerable. The long term aim is to accommodate 240 children. It is the dream of one remarkable woman, Wangari Cecilia, and is supported by a small group of dedicated, unpaid, volunteers based in Northampton. The Charity pays for the needs of these children, including food, medical costs and the salaries of local teachers. The School now has classrooms, dormitories and kitchen, washing and toilet facilities. Basic electricity has been installed. But there is still much work to be done including: more classrooms, staff living accomodation, better sanitation and water harvesting. The charity is working to raise money for these essential improvements. The Hebe Holmes Memorial Fund exists solely to raise money for the Karuri Project and welcomes your support. Hebe Holmes died in 2012 aged 16. She would have been proud, delighted and amazed that her name and her memory were benefiting children who deserve the opportunity to make their mark in the World. For further information about Karuri School, please click on the blue web-link "Visit our website" under Charity details. How to help? Please consider sponsorship. £35 will pay for one child's education and upkeep for one month. But any amount from £2 a month upwards would be very welcome. You can make a monthly donation using the button under "Support us". Thank you.

Lilly Uganda is a UK charity that aims to provide shelter, medical care and education to children who were living in poverty in Kampala, Uganda. We operate two projects, the first is the Education Programme which currently supports 11 children to attend secondary school providing for school fees uniforms and school requirements. The second project is Rafiki House which is home for children who have been abandoned or have relatives who live in extreme poverty. There are 24 children who stay at the house ranging in age from 5-15 years old. Rafiki House is a place for them to feel the security they have never had before. They are learning they can just focus on their studies and making friends rather than the huge responsibilities that they have previously faced. After many years eating a poor diet and often just one meal a day the children all now receive highly nutritious food and the charity covers all their medical costs. All of the children attend Makamu Junior School. On 1 June a group of adventurers from Staines will be climbing Snowdon in order to raise money for Lilly Uganda, if you would like to sponsor them then please click on the button below.
