Our vision is of a society where children are free from sexual abuse and exploitation.The majority of children who suffer sexual abuse are abused by someone they know, someone in their family/social network. This makes it incredibly hard for them to tell anyone and is why we, as adults, must do all we can to protect them.Our work places a protective shield around children, to help prevent abuse from happening ever, or again. Specialist staff work with everyone involved in a child’s life, tackling the problem from all angles.Where abuse has already taken place, we work with all those affected:- adult male/female abusers; young people with harmful sexual behaviour; children with concerning sexual behaviours; victims of abuse and other family members. We also work in families where there has been no abuse, to help them keep themselves and others as safe as possible. This comprehensive approach is the only way we can effectively tackle child sexual abuse.

Since our inception, we have successfully raised funds and awareness for our partner organisation in India and we are now proud to contribute 30% of Odanadi’s core running costs. In addition to our ever-expanding raft of UK activities, we also offer strategic and capacity building support to our sister organisation. Odanadi India: Fighting human trafficking, violence and exploitation Odanadi’s vision is to create a peoples’ movement against gender discrimination and human trafficking, and also works to combat social injustice more generally. Odanadi is a small organisation based in Mysore, southern India. Since the early 1990s, Odanadi has worked tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate individuals who have been trafficked, prostituted, enslaved or abused. Odanadi offers them a home, counselling, an education and career opportunities, in addition to assisting with prosecutions against traffickers and advocating to law enforcement. But it doesnt stop there: Odanadi’s grassroots education, awareness and empowerment programmes prevent trafficking in some of the regions most at-risk communities. Every day in India, young people are lured away from their homes by criminal trafficking networks. In the hands of traffickers, children are sold, exploited and robbed of their childhoods. Many will end up on the brothels, on the streets and living on the margins of society. Over the past 20 years Odanadi has rescued more than 2,000 men, women and children; carried out over 60 raids and brought more than 137 traffickers to justice.

Charis started in 2008 as an outreach project from a local church to address a need in the community. It is a faith-based charity but not faith biased; Charis works equally with people of all faiths and none. We are committed to working alongside local government, police, NHS, schools, faith-based communities, charities and non-statutory organisations to help end sexual exploitation and human trafficking, and aid the restoration of those who have been affected and traumatised within the sex industry. Our vision is to see a society where everyone is valued, treated with dignity and able to live a fulfilling life, without the danger of being trafficked or sexually exploited. We achieve our aims through Preventative work; by raising awareness and educating statutory and non-statutory organisations, and through lessons in schools. Regular Outreach work every week to women working on the street and working in off street sex establishments. Individual befriending relationships, practical support, advocacy, advice, referrals and signposting. Charis exists to give people in the sex industry the opportunity for choice again (where so many of their choices have previously been taken from them); a choice to exit if they wish, and a choice to rebuild a new life as they would choose to live it.
