We provide accomodation for up to twelve women and their children in our two refuges with key workers supporting every woman and child. We also have a dedicated children’s service for the children in the refuge with Child Support Workers using play therapy to support these children through what is a very difficult and challenging time. We run various groups in the community including the 'Freedom Programme' which is an informative, interactive course aimed at women that have or are experiencing domestic violence. Women can join at any time during the twelve week cycle. It provides an opportunity for women to learn how to identify abuse and to live free from harm. The next step on from this is 'Stay Free' programme which helps survivors of domestic abuse and have broken free from an abusive relationship to find ways to maintain that freedom. Following on from that we also run the 'Recovery Toolkit' which helps to look at self esteem and assertiveness within each woman. For children and young people we offer the 'Meaningful Relationships' programme, which focuses on what is and is not acceptable in a relationship and to build confidence.

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation is the only UK-wide child protection charity dedicated solely to reducing the risk of children being sexually abused. It it runs the Stop it Now! Helpline and Campaign and the Parents Protect! project. You can use the links on the left to find out more about these. Our vision is of a society where children are free from sexual abuse and exploitation. The majority of children who suffer sexual abuse are abused by someone they know, someone in their family/social network. This makes it incredibly hard for them to tell anyone and is why we, as adults, must do all we can to protect them. Our work places a protective shield around children, to help prevent abuse from happening ever, or again. Specialist staff work with everyone involved in a child’s life, tackling the problem from all angles.Where abuse has already taken place, we work with all those affected:- adult male/female abusers; young people with harmful sexual behaviour; children with concerning sexual behaviours; victims of abuse and other family members. We also work in families where there has been no abuse, to help them keep themselves and others as safe as possible. This comprehensive approach is the only way we can effectively tackle child sexual abuse.
