Rape Crisis (England and Wales) is a registered charity and the national umbrella organisation for Rape Crisis Centres across the country. We support the work of local centres and aim to develop new centres in areas where there are no or few specialist services. Through our campaigns and briefings we raise awareness of sexual violence, challenge attitudes and press for change. Rape Crisis Centres provide crucial crisis and long term specialised counselling, support and independent advocacy for all women and girls of all ages who have experienced any form of sexual violence both recently and/or in the past; centres are community based, and independent of government and the criminal justice system. We place victims’ voices at the heart of all we do, and our specialist team works with drive and passion to help people escape from violence and change their lives. We manage two women's refuges in Sandwell which provide safe supportive environments to women and children escaping domestic abuse. Our Humdard service offers support specifically to South Asian women, specialising in issues of forced marriage and honour-based violence. In Sandwell, Dudley and Wolverhampton, we have a have a specialist rape and sexual violence service supporting and offering counselling to women, men and children who have suffered rape and sexual abuse. Our specialist young people's team works with young people in and out of school to support victims and prevent growing rates of domestic abuse, sexual violence and sexual exploitation amongst young people.
