North Ayrshire Cancer Care is a registered charity established in 1989 and is run entirely by volunteers. Our aim is to relieve the suffering and distress of cancer sufferers in North Ayrshire by providing mainly transport, home care appliances and other services to those in need of support. A great deal of our resources go into transporting on average 30 patients (150 runs) a week, on a 24/7 one-to-one basis, to hospitals in the West of Scotland for treatment and consulting appointments, these can be a great burden both financially and practically on sufferers. Patients take part in a variety of group activities designed to break down feelings of helplessness and isolation and take control in improving their health and managing side effects, or receive free complementary therapies to reduce stress and improve feelings of wellbeing. We rely on the generosity of local people through donations and performing fundraising tasks as well as supporting our local charity shops. We need your help and support more now the Ambulance Service is cutting back in patient transport.
