Mine Warfare, Diving, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Torpedo Anti-Submarine Warfare, Maritime Trade, Naval Control of Shipping and Small Ships Engineering remain active elements of combat operations within the service today. Members of these disciplines and more, trained and worked at the site and the monument is intended to represent all arms of the Royal Navy who served there. The monument will commemorate not only the history of the Vernon site but will also pay tribute to the expertise and bravery of generations of naval personnel. The chosen design will serve as a lasting reminder that the task of making the sea nad the land safe in times of peace and conflict continues to this very day.

GEMS Charity We are a Leicestershire based charity, founded in June 2012 by Andy and Sally Anderson of Kibworth after accompanying four close friends on weekly visits to the Osbourne Chemotherapy Suite at Leicester Royal Infirmary. Inspired by the hard work and dedication of the nurses and the potential life saving procedures that happen in the Suite it soon became apparent that they needed as much help as possible to make the surroundings comfortable and homely. The Oncology Unit treats 100's of people every day with all types of cancer and it relies heavily on the generous donations and help by the public.Be inspired by them and show your support to a local charity where all proceeds go directly to the Oncology Unit in the Osbourne Building. Our Aim: To help the patients and their supporters who visit the Oncology Unit in the Osborne Building at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI) more comfortable. Our Promise: With close consultation with the staff on the ward we will endeavour to help with buying small, non-medical equipment and anything that will help to make the patient's time at the suite a little more comfortable during what can be a very difficult time for the patients and visitors supporting their friends and family. A patients quote"Having spent most of last year between the Osbourne outpatients clinic and the Osbourne day ward I know how much could be done improve the facilities. The staff are wonderful, but working in crowded and dull suroundings"
We are Octavia's Trust a small charitable trust set up to raise funds to provide postgraduate bursaries to people undertaking research into the causes and prevention of stillbirths and late stage miscarriages. Losing a baby is one of the worst things that can happen to a parent, but sadly it is all too common. We strongly believe that in order to get the best research we need the best researchers. However, high fees and lack of financial support put many potentially brillant researchers off from pursuing a master's degree which is mandatory for nearly all PhD programmes. By providing even small bursaries for deserving postgraduate students we hope to encourage more people to move into this field of research. Please donate to support our cause.
