Our aim is to provide support to parents and give them opportunities to meet other families living with Down’s Syndrome. We are a great source of local and general information regarding Down’s Syndrome and we hope to raise awareness and understanding in the local community. We hold monthly meetings on the first Saturday of the month at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre and we have a full range of outdoor and indoor activities for the kids (and adults!). Yakety Yak is our weekly speech and language service for children with Down's Syndrome. DSE international's research shows that learning to talk is a particular challenge for children with Down syndrome - more so than many other areas of development. Difficulties communicating present obstacles in daily life and can be a major source of frustration. ELDSSG through Yakety Yak are hoping to help develop these skills as far as possible

We have an Easter camp where the children and their siblings can go for 3 days without their parents and enjoy all kinds of activities such as football, basket ball, dance, circus workshops, painting and creating etc. We have a siblings only day out, once a year. 40tude curing colon cancer is a rapidly expanding group of people who have decided to take action against the second biggest cancer killer in the Western world. Since it was founded in 2011, 40tude has raised over £700,000 for St. Mark’s Hospital Foundation, supporting the development of pioneering techniques to treat colon cancer. So far 40tude has successfully sponsored the FLEX project - a new surgical technique to remove colon cancer. We are now supporting the Artificial Bowel Project, a programme to engineer new bowel tissue from patient's own stem cells and have begun funding the PERFECTS programme: to improve and monitor the quality of CT colonographies across the NHS. About SOFT UK SOFT UK provides information and support at all stages following a prenatal diagnosis of Trisomy 13 or Trisomy 18 - whether a family decides to terminate the pregnancy early or allow it to continue. SOFT supports those caring for a baby or child with these conditions (often living with multiple and profound disabilites), and families if a bereavement occurs. As a membership organisation, families can share their experiences through the SOFT UK website, members' magazine and annual members' events. SOFT offers support to all members of the family, including siblings of the affected child, for as long as required. Martin McLaughlin will be taking part in the Great Scottish Half Marathon on 6th October. Martin is raising money for 2 great causes - Cancer Support Scotland and SOFT UK - in memory of Paul and Ben.   On the 15th of September Neil Hindle ran the Bupa Great North Run. Neil has raised £660 so far and is still accepting donations for SOFT UK.  Caroline and Sean Watts ran the Bristol Half Marathon on 15 September in memory of their daughter Cerys. They are still accepting donations for SOFT UK, Jessie May Trust and Chidren's Hospice South West. Jason Tomkins is taking part in several cycle rides throughout the year to raise funds in memory of his precious Nephew Oliver. Jonathan Worth is fundraising in memory of Amelia Rose.
