YTD Raised: £1,065.00

Bury Society for Blind and Partially Sighted People is a registered charity and the aim of the Society is to enhance the quality of life for all visually impaired people within the Metropilitain Borough of Bury. The Society was founded in 1922 and for many years just held social events for local visually impaired people. It wasn't until 1994 that the Society became established with premises, staff, volunteers, a Committee and Trustees. In 2005 the Society made the transition to a Company Limited by Guarantee; the Committee then became the Board of Directors. In August 2011 the Society moved to it's current base at Wolstenholme House, 4 Tenterden Street, Bury, enabling a wider range of services to be provided and available for service users. Sight loss is an isolating condition and seclusion, lonliness, anxiety and depression can soon set in, removing individuals from their local communities. The work of the Society is about supporting these individuals through difficult times, practically and emotionally, as well as promoting independence. This is achieved by offering a variety of support services: Maintaining and improving our services depends very much on the voluntary help we receive. The Society is funded by legacies and voluntary donations which are desperately needed to supplement the grants we receive. Registered Charity Number 1102525 Company Number 4815165

YTD Raised: £1,062.00

I Can & I Am is a Charity that seeks to address an issue of our time. There are too many people battling with low self worth and through a series of presentations to schools, pastoral leaders, parents, charities, churches and businesses inspiration is offered. Powerful testimony and key principles aim to redirect thinking. The charity is led and was founded by James Shone. He had many years of experience in the education sector and was appointed to be a headmaster in July 2012. He was then diagnosed with a brain tumour which changed the course of his journey. After receiving 27 hours of brain surgery, James lost the majority of his sight. This meant that he was not able to fulfill his career ambitions but was able to exercise his natural pastoral passion in the form of this charity.

STOPAIDS is the network of UK agencies working since 1986 to secure an effective global response to HIV and AIDS. With 80 members behind us, we raise a united voice to rally and maintain the UK’s leadership in the global response to HIV. Together with people living with HIV, we fight for a global response that respects, protects and fulfils human rights. We give decision-makers the proof – and the push – they need to make the right, smart choices to help improve the lives of the millions of people around the world needing HIV treatment, prevention, care and support. We are striving for a world in which peoples’ human rights are respected. Discrimination that prevents certain groups of people from accessing services is stopped and the rights of people living with HIV and AIDS are fully respected. 16 million people that are in need of treatment around the world still aren’t getting it. And just at this moment our leaders are backing away from the promise to deliver HIV prevention, treatment, care and support to all. We still need to fight to Stop AIDS. Please lend us your vital support.
