YTD Raised: £0.00

If you think you think you are too small to make an impact try going to bed with a mosquito in the room (quote from Dame Anita Roddick)  Seriously though we are a small charity but we aim to have a BIG impact and you can help. Six days a week at N.E.D.C .- The Seagrove Centre, we welcome in 18 local people who have dementia . They are collected from home and travel to the centre for a light breakfast. While enjoying these snacks they are offered a choice of four meaningful activities to take part in.  A wide variety of things are on offer from Wii fit, baking, having debates , dancing, gardening, singing, throwing custard pies , archery, entertainers, outings and all things in between to hairdressing and chiropody. The aim for this service is too keep our members safe, healthy and happy and to ensure they have something to look forward to each week. While doing the above activities the members overall wellbeing is helped and this can help them to stay living in their own home longer. It sounds easy but is actually quite challenging. We try to meet our members physical, emotional and practical needs all while keeping them safe. Additionally we also try to meet these same aspects for their carers. However it is the most rewarding job too as we get to see the benefits to the members almost from day 1. The Seagrove Centre is run by a not for profit organisation, and we receive the majority of our funding from the City of Edinburgh Council. We are very fortunate to have this support and to have a purpose built centre for this vital work. Like all good services we are constantly trying to improve our practice, to  do this we need money. We will use any funds to: Develop further health promotion initiatives ( following on from our successful in- house chiropody service) which will keep our members healthier and happier  To buy new resource materials,  And keep the centre and gardens in an excellent state of decoration.
