It can also seriously affect relationships and can subsequently lead to depression. Our charity aims to provide chronic pain sufferers, with a relaxed weekly meeting where you need not explain your particular challenges, problems or pain, as we are all faced with our own. That brings common ground and understanding, where perhaps it is not found elsewhere. Through this understanding we provide one another with compassion and empathy and above all support. We are totally self-financing through annual and weekly subscriptions, grants, collections and fundraising activities. Please donate to support our cause. Who we are We are Home-Start Richmond, the local branch of the national family support charity which currently supports 1 in 237 families in the UK. Parenting young children can be difficult at the best of times but when you have other issues or problems to cope with as well, it can become overwhelming. This is where Home-Start can help. What we do Last year we supported 250 families with over 500 children in the borough of Richmond upon Thames. We have about 100 home-visiting volunteers who are trained to support families (with at least one child under 5) who are experiencing difficulties such as post-natal depression, isolation, disability of parent or child, bereavement or a combination of factors that impact on their children’s development. Help us to support parents to give local children a better start in life. For more information, please visit www.homestart-richmond.org.uk.

MAP’s aim is to help young people to have better, healthier lives, to overcome barriers to realising their potential. Our vision is that all young people will know what it is to be valued; that they will have the support and information they need to make a successful transition to adulthood. Advice Our advice team gives specialist advice on practical things that might affect young people, such as welfare rights, employment, education and training, money and debt, housing and homelessness, sexual health, being a parent and developing strong family relationships. With the right advice, young people are more likely to find secure housing, successful personal relationships and employment or training opportunities that meet their needs, interests and skills. Counselling MAP’s counsellors and youth mental health workers work with young people to overcome personal problems they might be experiencing. We offer crisis counselling across Norfolk, where young people can talk privately in quiet, safe places about issues affecting their well-being. With your support, we can offer more counselling sessions to more young people, helping them find immediate relief, to work through what's troubling them and prevent longer-term mental health issues from developing. Youth Work Our team of Youth Workers deliver activities and events for young people to enable them to develop new skills, increase their confidence, meet new people and have a greater role in shaping what is happening in their community. Through informal learning and personal development, young people develop a sense of belonging and aspiration. Your support will enable us to give more young people the opportunity to realise their potential.

Shropshire Mind was established almost 40 years ago and provides a diverse range of quality services, across the County for the one in four people and their families acknowledged to be affected by mental or emotional distress. We help to bridge the gap between illness and full independence for service users. Some people need support in many areas of their lives, others in just a few, some for long periods of time, others for only a short while.Respect for users, with justice and equality of access to services are part of our vision that everyone has the right to live equally with others and to enjoy a good quality of life. We try to enable service users to play the fullest possible part in the communities in which they live. We work in partnership with clients to ensure their right to make choices is preserved. We are also striving to reduce the debilitation, alienation, stigma and social isolation experienced by vulnerable people living in rural areas. Our work includes group work based at our Shrewsbury premises and also at venues in Ludlow, Whitchurch, Bridgnorth and Market Drayton, with the aim of establishing additional groups across the county. Shropshire Mind has an established and trained volunteer base and a small number of paid staff who run specific projects. The charity has a board of trustees who meet as the Executive Committee and of those trustees there are elected officers – Chair, Treasurer and Secretary.
