Issues most frequently addressed are the effects of addiction to alcohol. Synergy addresses not only the addiction but the reasons behind it. We are also able to assist with emotional, physical and stress related problems. Like all charities, we are very committed to our work and believe in offering clients support that is ethical and clinically sound. Founded over thirty years ago, our organisation has assisted many in the process of recovery from unhealthy dependency. We offer a care plan to incorporate treatment, rehabilitation as well as support for the whole family. Services include: Individual, Partners, Family, Children & Young Persons Therapy, Pre-Detox Groups, Relapse Prevention, Open Sessions, Womens Groups, Training Towards Employment, Training & Consultancy. Demand for our services has increased significantly as people have found it harder to cope with their lives in this period of economic uncertainty. We operate within a tight budget, and to enable us to continue to expand our service levels to meet the local community need, an increase in our year on year donations are necessary. We are volunteers who offer support to such people by phone, e-mail and face to face. We also do work in two local prisons. We have premises in the centre of Liverpool, near the universities and have to be entirely self-funding to keep our service available for the local community and Merseyside and for anyone who wants to phone or email from anywhere.

Together, we provide a service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing emotional support to people experiencing distress or despair, including thoughts that may lead to suicide. Our service is confidential: we dont judge and we dont give advice. We do listen and provide human contact for people, some of whom may be in very great distress. We can be contacted by phone, email, or face to face by dropping in to our centre. All our work is carried out by volunteers, but we still have a building to maintain and bills to pay: it costs us in excess of £20,000 a year to keep running, and we are entirely dependent on donations. Your support will allow us to keep answering callers in crisis. Thank you!
